Face Masks & How You Can Help

By March 27, 2020Health, Community

So Proud to Partner with Mile High Workshop.

For over 3 years we have partnered with Mile High Workshop in production of EverPillows. We couldn’t ask for a better agency to be in relationship with. Not only do they do phenomenal work in helping former felons, addicts and homeless get a second chance in life, they help us make amazing Everpillows.

Recently they have repurposed the sewing shop to begin sewing much needed face masks for our front line health care professionals. By now you’ve probably seen the news stories so you’re aware of the desperate needs in communities around the country. Here’s what they are doing in face masks production and how you can help.

The Following is from an email they sent us:

Prototype and Patterns are Complete

Over the weekend, Mile High Workshop team worked to communicate with local hospitals to understand the technical needs of a mask that would best protect health workers and design a product that’s manufacturable on our equipment. They have a complete design that is up to standards and ready to go.

Materials Identified

Their team, again with support from the local healthcare community, has identified which materials are best and also available. A cotton or cotton blend fabric with high thread count is recommended. They suggested using sheets or pillow cases. We’re using elastic from hair ties (happens to be a perfect fit!) around the ears and twist ties to secure the nose, both are available at dollar stores.

Ready for Production
We’re very conscious of our team’s health and also social distancing expectations so we’re prepared to leverage a combination of small crews at the shop and home sewing to manufacture. With our existing team, we think we can produce over 100 masks/ day and with volunteers could easily be in the 300/ day range.

How You can Help

  • Help provide materials – Can you buy or donate white/off white or light colored high thread count cotton sheets, twist tie material or hair ties/ elastic?
  • Do you sew? Our team can cut materials and serge edges as well as provide a tech pack if you have a home sewing machine and want to pitch in.
  • Donate – We’ve already had to cut pay and hours at the shop and like many nonprofits, this is a very uncertain time. Your generosity can help us stretch our resources and add fuel to our efforts. You can give a gift here. All donations are matched up to 2.5 million thanks to the Stand Together Foundation

Want to Help? Have Other Ideas?

Please email Rochelle to let us know what you’re thinking and how you might be able to contribute to the work. Thank you!

Infinitemoon Update!

We have paused production of new Infinitemoon products and are only fulfilling orders as they come in from our current inventory.  Our team, along with Mile High Workshop is following social distancing guidelines set forth by our local government, CDC and WHO.  We are shipping 2-3 times a week and delays will be insignificant in receiving your orders.

The best way you can help us is to keep sharing about Infinitemoon and the work we are doing with the help of Mile High Workshop.  We’re also donating what ever resources we have that might apply to making of face masks.

Purchasing Infinitemoon products helps us stay in production and keep Mile High Workshop in production.

Thank you for your passion for helping others.
